Sports equity is about fairness in sport, equality of access, recognising inequalities and taking steps to address them. It is about changing the culture and structure of sport to ensure it becomes equally accessible to everyone in society.
The Club is committed to everyone having the right to enjoy their sport in an environment free from threat of intimidation, harassment and abuse.
Safeguarding
Devizes Netball Club is committed to providing a safe and positive atmosphere for all players and follow the England Netball guidelines and policies in regard to safeguarding young people and adults at risk. All adults working with the junior club as well as all our coaches hold a DBS through England Netball.
Our Club Safeguarding Officer is Victoria Sim, and she can be contacted directly on welfaredevizesnetball@outlook.com.
If she is not available, you can contact our chairperson, Kelly Wood or any member of the Executive Committee.
As part of our safeguarding procedures we use the following documents as guidance:
- Reporting a Safeguarding Concern in the Netball Environment from England Netball
- What to do if you are worried a child is being abused and neglected from the Wiltshire Safeguarding Children Board
- Allegations against adults who work with children guidance from the Wiltshire Safeguarding Children Board
First aid and emergency procedures
All lead coaches are first aid trained and there is a first aid kit available at all training sessions, and each squad has a first aid kit in their bag. There is always a qualified first aider on duty at the Leisure Centre and all emergencies and first aid (other than minor) are brought to their attention. They provide an initial assessment, wheelchair if necessary and contact next of kin and emergency services. Junior players' emergency contacts are held on a dedicated password protected mobile phone which is always brought to training.
For regional away matches, a first aid kit is carried and the coach and one of the players are a qualified first aiders.
