Devizes Netball Club and Covid-19

For the 2021-22 season, we are choosing to retain some procedures to reduce the possibility of Covid-19 being transmitted at netball. We expect all members / visitors to our court to follow these. Please have a read through the below information to see what procedures we have put into place. You may also want to look at two documents England Netball produced to help players assess the risks associated with netball and Coronavirus:

It is important to make it clear that the club will take a sympathetic view if players feel the need to withdraw from netball for a time for Covid-related reasons, which may include an increased risk to them or a family member or for work or other personal reasons. However, it is essential that you let your captain and the Covid officer know so we are aware of the reasons for your absence and can put in place any changes we need to for your team.

Becky Sedgwick is the lead COVID 19 Officer for the club. If you have any questions please direct them to her at devizesnetballcovid@gmail.com. It is Becky’s job to keep on top of the guidance from the government and England Netball and make sure we comply with all the requirements. Ali Ruscoe and Ellen Wilson are also COVID Officers.

If you test positive

If a person tests positive, they must not attend any netball activity and they must self-isolate at home for 10 days in line with Government guidance.

If you are a contact of a positive case

We will be following England Netball's guidance, which says:

Government guidance states that if you have been fully vaccinated or are U18 you will be exempt from being required to self-isolate if you are a contact of a positive case. You will instead be advised to take a PCR test as soon as possible.

  • Anyone who is identified as a close contact of someone who tests positive should do a COVID-19 test on the day of any netball activity and can only attend if this test is negative.
  • Those who are not fully vaccinated should continue to self-isolate and not attend any netball activity if they are a close contact of someone testing positive.

Precautions we are taking

The club will be maintaining most of the precautions we adopted last year. To help us:

  • Please undertake your own health screening before coming to any netball activity, and do not attend if you have a fever, a  new continuous cough or a loss or change to sense of smell or taste.
  • Please continue to bring your own hand sanitiser and wipes for sanitising your netball
  • Please continue to bring your own ball and training bibs if you have been given them
  • Please continue to socially distance before and after training and during breaks
  • Please refrain from sharing drinks bottles or whistles
  • Please continue to log in to track and trace using the Leisure Centre's QR code
  • Please report any cases of Covid-19 to the Covid Officer on devizesnetballcovid@gmail.com

We have updated our Covid risk assessment and you can read the latest version (August 2021) here: Club Covid Risk Assessment August 2021.
