Back To Netball...
The Back To Netball Ladies lined up against Frome Hearts. With lots of support from their club mates, coaches and friends & family the ladies got off to a strong start and matched Frome’s play throughout the court, and with fantastic shooting and some fantastic turnovers in defence the score was 6-5 to Frome at quarter time. The team made changes at each interval as part of the team philosophy on fun and fitness, with that competitive edge getting stronger, but the changes did not affect their play and several ladies showed their versatility playing several different positions. The game and score remained close and within 1 goal until the last quarter, and with the encouragement from the side lines Devizes 6 dug deep and with B Wright turning over another ball into the circle being converted by the Devizes shooters off the Frome centre pass at the start of the final 15 minutes and then a successful centre pass Devizes took the lead. The ladies showed real determination to made the lead stick, and with good control keeping possession of the ball and converting their shots on goal and despite good pressure and fight back from Frome were able to hold until the final whistle to win 27-25! The excitement from the side lines and from the players was amazing to witness and the club is very proud of the start of what we are sure will be a very successful and enjoyable back to netball campaign for the ladies.
