Club History
The club was formed in May 1979 at the Southbroom Youth Centre by Kate Vanstone and Enid Allinson as the result of a chance conversation after a Badminton match. It was an adult team with a minimum age of 18. The two founders found a good deal of support in the town and were able to field two teams.
They enjoyed an early taste of success when they won their first tournament at Corsham in March 1980, beating Derry Hill in extra time.
In the 1980/1 Season Devizes entered two teams in the Moonraker Netball League. In that same year Devizes ‘B’ won the Division Two title. They were to repeat that success in 1989 when they topped Division One.
The club trained and played at the Southbroom Youth Centre Sports Hall which had restricted facilities. In 1990, Devizes Leisure Centre opened and provided three outdoor courts, thereby allowing the club to expand, starting a junior section. The club has expanded rapidly in the last few years and now has eight teams in the Moonraker League, including three junior teams. Our junior section consists of more than 60 girls.
The A Team won the Premier Title for the first time in 1996 and retained their title in the following year.
In 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 the A team matched this performance and made it six in a row when they won the title again in 2013, earning them promotion into the newly formed Southwest Regional League 3. In the 2023-24 season, the team was promoted to Southwest Regional League 2.
In the 2022-23 season the club entered a team into the Southwest U14 regional league and in the 2023-24 season, into the Southwest U16 regional league. This team won division 2 (mid), and for the 2024-25 season will be in division 1.
